Matthew Theobald is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Crewe & Nantwich constituency. Current Chair of Stapeley & District Parish Council, Matthew stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate for Nantwich South & Stapeley in the 2019 Cheshire East Council election.
In Matthew’s words:
I want the best for our community, I’m getting into this to bring about change.
I didn’t plan to get into politics, but I couldn’t sit by and watch things getting worse, so I got involved locally.
I started by working, with others and local groups, to stop rampant, unwarranted development of inappropriate housing in our area, challenging harmful parts of Cheshire East’s Local Plan.
I became a Councillor for Stapeley & Batherton to continue that, leading efforts for a Neighbourhood Plan that protects the community’s future hopes and aspirations. I’m working on plans to make the area more people + environment friendly.
I’m a Governor at a local High School – I see every day the challenges our children, teachers and support staff face – I fight for their best interests, which are harmed by the poor funding provision from Government.
I’ve experienced the multiple benefits of EU membership first hand – working to develop products like asthma inhalers and insulin pens, across many EU countries and the US.
As a Green Liberal Democrat, I am passionate about the environmental challenges we face, and will promote practical solutions to these issues.
