Labour Remainers, your party has left you!

Labour Remainers, your party has left you behind!

More than 80% of those who voted Remain, now say that this will determine their vote on Thursday 12 December.

It’s time to trust in the sensible middle ground of British politics.

If not now, when?

If not you, who?

The clock is ticking…

The clock is ticking – Flooding in Crewe and Nantwich is getting worse

We must take decisive action to tackle the climate emergency.

We need a radical, credible plan to do this, starting now:

  • Net Zero emissions by 2045 at the latest
  • 80% renewable electricity by 2030
  • Insulating every home by 2030
  • £5bn for community flood prevention

It’s time to trust in the sensible middle ground of British politics.

If not now, when?

If not you who?

Every child deserves the best start in life

Every child in Crewe and Nantwich deserves the best start in life, no matter their ability or background
We will all benefit from proper funding for local schools

Lets give our children the resources they need to learn:

  • Emergency cash injection so our schools are properly funded
  • Support for our teachers, so they can focus on teaching
  • Extending Free School Meals to all primary school children, so they’re ready to learn

It’s time to trust in the sensible middle ground of British politics.

If not you, who?

If not now, when?

Protect our NHS and Social Services

Our NHS and social care are in crisis.

Leighton Hospital is struggling.

We have been failed by the Conservatives.

We must invest in our NHS.

  • 1 p on income tax, ringfenced for our NHS and social care
  • Mental health on a level with physical health
  • Support people to build a brighter future for themselves and their loved ones

It’s time to trust in the sensible middle ground of British politics.

Helping families in Crewe and Nantwich

Childcare is expensive in Crewe and Nantwich.

That’s why we’re offering free childcare from 9 months old for working families.

Think how much difference that would make to our monthly bills.

If not now, when?

A fairer society

For many in Crewe and Nantwich, things aren’t working as they should be.

Poverty is up locally.  Thousands of people in our community have turned to foodbanks for help.  That’s not right.

Like many areas of the UK, Crewe has been left behind.

Let’s invest in a brighter future for Crewe and Nantwich.

  • Appropriate, affordable and social housing, prioritising brownfield sites
  • Help our young people and families to stay here
  • Help our older people to live independently for longer
  • Lift 600,000 children out of poverty across the UK
  • A benefits system that works for those it protects
  • Universal access to basic services

It’s time to trust in the sensible middle ground of British politics.

A Brighter Future for education in Crewe and Nantwich

It is so important that we ensure schools in Crewe & Nantwich are properly funded to ensure our children get the best opportunity for a great education.

As a local High School Governor, I see the harsh impacts on students, staff and families, of Conservative education funding cuts since 2015.

That’s why I spent time this weekend working with education experts on reversing this horrible situation.

The event attracted people from across the UK, people working in education, Councillors and Campaigners, so the conversation was lively and well informed.

It was invaluable to discuss the critical issues facing education, with colleagues from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Issues that directly affect pupils, their families and teaching staff in Crewe and Nantwich. Issues like:

The reality of inadequate school funding from 2016 to 2023 and the huge gap between funding and Boris Johnson’s claim just this summer to “level up” schools across the land.

The reduction in Council resources to provide vital support to vulnerable students and their families, at a time when they need it most.

Inclusion of LGBT and gender equality in relationships education, promoting an inclusive, fairer society.

Combating racism in our schools and colleges.

Reforming the broken system of assessments that is stealing time away from pupils’ learning and development.

Schools and local authorities facing inadequate funding, in the face of rising numbers of pupils with identified SEND support needs.

Like me, you’ll probably be thinking about how these burning issues can be addressed. It is clear that Liberal Democrat education plans will give our schools the support they desperately need, enabling all young people in Crewe and Nantwich to get the high quality education they deserve.

We will reverse school funding cuts with an emergency cash injection, so that pupils have the resources they need, to enable them to learn.

We will ensure that there is extra funding for children with the most complex needs.

We will invest in Further Education to save our colleges and extend pupil premium to disadvantaged students aged 16 to 19.

We will support children to learn, we will scrap SATs and give parents more valuable information about their school’s performance and ethos.

Perhaps you’re already thinking that this is an education plan that you can support. Maybe you would like to see these changes sooner rather than later.

Join me to Build A #BetterFuture for education, for our children, for our community. It benefits us all.
